Who We Are

We have a highly creative and diverse team which are committed to teamwork, quality service, and professional integrity. Our Board of Directors and Senior Financial Advisor are presented below.

Dr. R. Karl James CD - Chairman

Dr. R. Karl James is CD - is the Chairman for  CALL ASSOCIATES Consultancy Ltd. He was the General Manager of Jamaica Cane Products Sales from 1986-2019, taking responsibility for marketing all of Jamaica’s sugar and molasses and representing the country’s industry across the sugar world.  Dr. James has served in different management positions with Pfizer International, Abbotts of North Chicago, Bristol Myers, ending as President and General Manager of Mead Johnson Jamaica Ltd.

 

He is currently the Chancellor of the Mico University College, the Chairman of Sugar Association of the Caribbean, and has served as Chairman and a Board Director of several private and public sector Boards. including serving as Chairman of Petrojam Ethanol, Jamaica and Petrojam Belize and as a member of the Board of Petrojam and Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ). He also served as President of the Jamaica Exporters Association and on the Board of the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica.

 

Dr. James’ record of service to Jamaica is extensive and he was formally recognized and awarded the Order of Distinction (Commander Class) by the Government of Jamaica in 1991.

Ms. Opal Slater, Company Secretry

Ms. Opal Slater is the Company Secretary, CALL ASSOCIATES Consultancy Ltd.  She has over 25 years of experience in Environmental Health, Agriculture (including Agro-processing) and company management.  She has Certification in Chemical Technology from the College of Arts, Science and Technology (now the University of Technology) and has done several courses related to food safety management & HAACP.  As an Agro-processor, she has developed new technologies and products for the Jamaican and overseas markets.   She has been recognized for her creativity and passion in developing a formulation for smoked jerk fish which was sold to international brands such as Ritz Carlton, Grand Lido Negril, and Couples Negril to name a few.

 

Opal Slater has had a long history of community engagement and community development.  She is currently a Director of the CALL Foundation, a non-governmental organization that focuses on the environment and sustainable development. 

 

The CALL Foundation for Environment & Sustainable Development was the NGO representative to the National Solid Waste Management Authority (and its four subsidiaries) in Jamaica.  It was an NGO representative on the Jamaican Delegation to the UN Conference on Oceans in June 2017, where issues related to sewage disposal and treatment, water supply and sanitation, solid waste disposal on land and its impact on oceans, and the development of partnerships to solve these problems were discussed.  The CALL Foundation has worked with US Based NGOs to coordinate medical missions and poverty reduction programs in Jamaica.

Dr. Bevon V .  Morrison, President & CEO

Dr. Bevon Morrison is an Eminent Jamaican Scientist that has done outstanding work on energy, environmental issues, health, agriculture, food service management, and tourism issues. She is the President of a management, financial and environmental consultancy firm – CALL ASSOCIATES Consultancy Ltd.  Dr Morrison was recently appointed CEO – Latin America and the Caribbean for the African Forum & Scotland Group (Global Entrepreneurship) Ltd which promotes investments & financing for projects in Africa and the African Diaspora; and serves on its Board as a Director.

 

She has served on the Board of several Private and Public Sector Companies in Jamaica and currently serves on the Board of private sector companies in Canada, United Kingdom, Jamaica, South Africa and Zambia. Dr. Bevon Morrison has represented Jamaica at several International Conferences -  World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa, Third World Congress of Biosphere Reserves in Madrid, Spain in 2008 and at the UN Conference on Oceans at UN Headquarters in New York in June 2017.

Wayne Beecher, MBA

Mr. Wayne Beecher, MBA is the Senior Financial Advisor, CALL ASSOCIATES Consultancy Ltd.  He has more than twenty years of senior management experience spanning the public and private sector where he has developed expertise in development financing, strategy, innovation, project management and technology application.  

He served as Senior Specialist, Multilateral Investment Fund for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). He had portfolio responsibility for Jamaica, Belize, and the Bahamas; and led the origination, structuring, negotiation, approval, and supervision of over 20 new operations and increased the MIF portfolio value by 300%. While at the IDB he was a member of the project team which established the Public/Private Partnership (PPP) Unit at DBJ and the PPP Node at the Ministry of Finance. He also participated in the design of the operations for IDB’s investment in the Caribbean Basin Sustainable Energy Fund.

 

He is the founder and CEO of alt^Catalyst, a professional service firm whose mission is to identify, inspire and catalyze the next generation of human-centered design innovators. His most recent assignment was the management of a portfolio of development innovations for the Multilateral Investment Fund; the Innovation Lab for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group.

 He is a certified project management professional, with a BSc degree in Management Studies & Accounting and MBA.
